1. What is a sliding scale and how does it work?
Our sliding scale ensures affordability by adjusting the fee based on household income. Thanks to funding from the County of Simcoe, some families may pay little to nothing.
2. What if I want to cancel my subscription?
You can cancel your subscription at any time with no penalty. We simply ask for at least 7 days' notice before the next billing cycle.
3. What payment options are available?
We accept credit card and e-transfer. You’ll receive payment instructions when you register.
4. What does “culturally affirming” mean?
Culturally affirming means that your child will see themselves reflected in what they learn. We use diverse books, games, and lessons that center Black identity, affirm lived experiences, and build self-confidence — while still aligning with the Ontario curriculum.
5. What if my child is not Black — are they still welcome?
Yes, absolutely! While our program is designed to affirm and empower Black youth, all children are welcome. Every child can benefit from identity-affirming, inclusive, high-quality instruction.
6. What assessments do you use?
For reading, we use tools from the UFLI (University of Florida Literacy Institute) to assess foundational skills and guide instruction. For math, we use assessments created by a certified teacher, along with insights from the IXL program. These tools help us measure progress and design lessons that meet your child’s specific learning needs.
7. What is included in a typical session?
Each session includes structured lessons, interactive activities, and built-in time for fun and connection. Whether your child is in a small group or 1-on-1, every session is planned with care to support growth and joy in learning.
8. How many students are in a group session?
Group sessions are capped at 3 students per group to ensure personalized attention and a supportive environment.
9. What does my subscription include?
