We offer training and consulting services on topics that are crucial to bringing awareness within the home, classroom, workplace and community. 

 

Our workshops will assist in deepening your knowledge on Canadian Black History, identifying racism of various forms and how to begin your allyship journey.

The Vibrant History of Simcoe County: Our Local Black History (1.5 hours)
Did you know that Simcoe County had underground railroad stops? Do you know what the names  New “Tecumseth” and “Washago” mean? For those of us who grew up here, we did not learn about our local history. We have had many people relocate to the area with the impact of COVID-19, and our local history is not shared broadly in the community.

Learn about the roots of Simcoe County and get a new appreciation and understanding of our past and how it has impacted us today.

We take space to touch on some Indigenous local history Underground railroad stops, Black settlements, Black historical sites, Local Black contributors, and historical figures John G Simcoe
Anti-Black Racism (6 hours)

An anti-Black racism workshop with a Canadian focus aims to understand and address systemic racism and discrimination specifically targeting Black individuals within the Canadian context. The workshop involves a combination of educational components, interactive discussions, and practical strategies to raise awareness, foster understanding, and promote allyship.

Racism 101 Part 1 and 2 (6 hours)

Introduction to various forms of racism, including anti-Indigenous, anti-Black and anti-Asian racism in a Canadian context. Learn about the history of racism and how we see it in our systems today.

 

This interactive session will allow learning to occur in a safe environment while promoting self-reflection on your perspectives. Learners will be able to make connections and identify aspects of racism at an internalized, interpersonal, and systemic level. 

 

With a fundamental knowledge of various forms of racism, learned in Racism 101, the focus of this workshop is how to use this information and apply it daily to make an impact in our community. This interactive session allows learners to practice strategies and take away tools to continue being an ally.

Lunch and Learns: (1 hour)

Microaggressions and Their Impact: Moving Beyond Intent to Action

Microaggressions, often unintentional, can harm and alienate others. Participants will learn to recognize common microaggressions, understand their impact, and respond thoughtfully, both as the recipient and as an observer or ally.

How to Talk to Your Kids About Race and Racism (1.5 hours)
Join our interactive workshop designed to empower parents in discussing race and racism with their children. In a supportive and open environment, we'll explore age-appropriate strategies to foster understanding and promote empathy. Through engaging activities and thoughtful conversations, parents will gain valuable insights into addressing questions about race, dismantling stereotypes, and cultivating inclusivity. Our expert facilitators will provide resources and guidance on navigating these critical conversations, ensuring that you can approach the topic with confidence and sensitivity. Together, let's equip the next generation with the tools they need to embrace diversity, celebrate differences, and contribute to a more inclusive society.
